Thank you for being part of my journey, and I look forward to sharing my most valuable content with you! What's the cost of Employee #Disengagement?
Gallup estimates that low employee engagement costs the global economy about 8.9 trillion U.S.dollars, or 9% of the global GDP 😱
In their latest report aptly titled "The State of the Global Workforce" they look at Employee Wellbeing. As always, I've done the reading & summarizing of the 152 page report 😉 on your behalf, so you can save your most precious ✨ asset, namely your time ⏱️:
Key Insights:
1. 20% of the world’s employees experience daily loneliness, with fully remote employees report significantly higher levels of loneliness (25%) than those who work fully on-site (16%)
2. Globally, employee wellbeing declined in 2023 from 35% to 34% with wellbeing among younger workers (below 35 years) dropping to 31%
3. Employee engagement is a significant factor in overall life experiences & whilst not all mental health issues are related to work, work is a factor in life evaluations & daily emotions
4. Role of the economics & policy: Countries where people think it is a good time to find a job have lower active disengagement. And, labor protections are associated with employees evaluating their present overall life better. Independent of labor laws, employee engagement is associated with hope for the future
5. The Role of the Manager: Managers have more negative experiences than non-managers. When managers are engaged, employees are more likely to be engaged. In best-practice organizations, 3/4 of managers are engaged, along with 7 in 10 non-managers
6. Many of the organizations Gallup has studied did NOT start with high levels of engagement. Becoming a highly engaged organization was an intentional effort of leadership over several years. Leaders who build strong & resilient cultures focus on a few things that set them apart from other organizations
💡 Did you know that targeted executive coaching can be a vital strategy for enhancing senior leadership engagement?
This is evidenced by various studies, including research from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), highlighting that organizations that invest in coaching can see significant improvements in employee engagement, productivity, & retention

👉🏼 A Regional Division Vice President of a publicly listed company was coached by me on aspects of virtual leadership & how to engage the diverse workforce effectively. The VP was able to develop & sharpen the skills to lead whilst working from remote locations within the region. Key was to lead through others by establishing a leadership steering team, creating a co-owned vision, defining the purpose and the ‘Why' of the leadership team and then work jointly on the ‘What' & on the ‘How'. The leader described his newly acquired skills as "adding a new dimension to my leadership repertoire".
